FAQ
How many platforms can one encoder stream to at once?
Yes — up to four. Our streaming encoders output up to four streams at the same time (for example 2 × 4K@30 plus 2 × 1080@30), so the same program feed can be pushed to four platforms or destinations simultaneously. Single-channel rack models such as the ZY-EH311-1U target a single destination. Tell us how many endpoints you need and we will size it for you.
Can it stream without a computer?
Yes. The encoder has its own network port and configuration page: connect Ethernet, enter the ingest URL, and it streams on its own. The PC is only needed for switching, if at all. Models with a display (ZY-EH1401) let you verify bitrate and status on the front panel.
Will packet loss ruin the picture?
With plain RTMP over the public internet, yes — loss shows up immediately. Our encoders support SRT, which uses ARQ retransmission to recover packets on lossy or jittery links, keeping the picture intact far better than bare RTMP. On poor links we recommend SRT plus a bandwidth margin.
Is 4K supported? What bitrate should I use?
Yes — the ZY-EH1401 supports up to 3840×2160@30 and 1920×1080@60. As a starting point, budget roughly 2–4 Mbps for H.265 1080p and 8–15 Mbps for 4K, then tune to your platform requirements and upstream capacity. H.265 typically saves about half the bandwidth of H.264 at equal quality.
How do I switch between cameras?
Two options: switch on a hardware video mixer and let the encoder carry the program feed (most common); or use a 4-channel / 8-channel encoder to send each camera upstream and switch in software or in the cloud. The first is simpler on site, the second suits remote production.
