Rail Transit PIS Solution

Onboard and station passenger information for metro, high-speed rail and light rail
N+1 hot standby, up to 10 km uncompressed over single fiber

In rail, the metric is not bandwidth

It is never going down - there is no reboot button in a moving train

Four hard constraints on rail projects

  • Equipment cannot stop while trains run: failover has to be automatic
  • Station to tunnel and train to control center distances exceed what copper covers
  • Heat, vibration and dust in cars kill commercial-grade hardware
  • Assets spread along the whole line: without network management, every check is a site visit

Our approach

Signal Chain

Playout, transport, onboard, display

1 · Control center Scheduling and playout servers
centralised management
→
2 · Station / wayside Fiber to platforms and tunnel sections
up to 10 km single fiber
→
3 · Onboard Onboard transceivers and players
vibration-resistant mounting
→
4 · In-car displays Car LCD and platform screens
synchronised playout
→
5 · Passengers Arrival and service information
video and notices

Specify N+1 redundancy at station level. For onboard and tunnel sections keep transport uncompressed over fiber, which also cuts the amount of cable in cars and tunnels.

ZY-EH1304 4-channel HDMI 4K encoder

Built for uninterrupted playout: automatic failover to the standby path, 4K playout control.

Uninterrupted playout

4K60 HDMI + audio + RS232 optical transceiver

HDMI video, 2 x RS232 control and 2 x audio on a single fiber, with 1/4/8/16 channel sender options.

Multi-signal fusion

multi-channel HDMI optical transceiver

Uncompressed with negligible latency up to 10 km over single fiber, 1/4/8/16 channel senders.

Long uncompressed runs

multi-channel optical transceiver customization

SNMP management so the whole line is visible from the control center, cutting site visits.

Line-wide management

Typical Applications

Metro car PIS

Programme and arrival information on in-car screens

High-speed rail

Long-haul fiber transport of train AV

Urban rail stations

Centralised playout for concourse and platform screens

Control center wall

Line-wide status and video monitoring

Platform displays

Arrival times and service notices

Tunnels and depots

Long uncompressed runs between sections

FAQ

How does the N+1 switchover work?

When the primary path fails the system switches to standby automatically, with no operator action. Switchover time depends on the project configuration; we provide the details during tendering.

What can travel over a single fiber?

The multi-channel models carry one HDMI AV channel plus two RS232 control channels and two stereo audio channels on one fiber, which reduces cabling inside cars and tunnels.

How far can it go?

Up to 10 km on single-fiber single-mode as standard. Longer distances can be customised for a project.

Can the equipment meet rail certifications?

We are the manufacturer. Test reports and certifications required by a specific project follow the tender documents and are supplied against that list. Industrial design features such as wide temperature range, vibration resistance and metal chassis can be confirmed per project.

Is there fault alarming?

The managed transceivers support SNMP, so line-wide device status is visible on the central NMS platform and fewer site visits are needed.
